Social Media Screencasts

Zappos is such a wonderful example of success through social media. It uses its Facebook and Twitter accounts to offer discounts, support, and offers to increase customer base. I found it so fascinating that they even have a book that specializes in the success stories of their company. They will send it to you for free and you can even come visit and tour their unique offices which encourages creativity and individuality. They have capitalized on customer service through their social media efforts alone as they always put the customer first.

Twitter is one of the social media outlets that Zappos uses on a daily basis. They answer customer questions, offer specials, and promote new products. Twitter is the best way to get constant updates out and it really works well for companies like Zappos.

The proof is in the pudding. Their company has boomed since its start in 1999. I see Zappos furthering their efforts and reputation to become one of the biggest if not the biggest online retailer in the world. I hope they expand their services further and beyond what they already have.

The narrator of this video is trying to explain to users how to use Microsoft PowerPoint to edit images.  He is very efficient with his explanation because his steps are in chronological order.  By using screencast technology, the narrator is capable of being descriptive and precise within the tutorial.  The learning process is simplified and condensed, allowing the student to quickly grasp and understand the information.  Text does not do as well of a job in transmitting the information because it lacks visual cues which are key components of recalling information. 

Facebook Page

This week the goal was to make a Facebook page or a basic one to start with. I was the "celebrity" journalist on my page and I had to write about what I did and then added a photo to put a name with a face. I have attempted Facebook pages before, but this was a completely different challenge. This time it became more personal. I didn't want to add friends to my page just yet, but I am going to post a link so you as readers can view it.

This video not only interests me in many ways, it also serves as a reality check.  When I first saw this video, I was amazed at the amount technology plays in our every day lives.  It is really fascinating how much social media has progressed in just the past decade and how it has affected us.  This is a wonderful depiction of the world as we know it today.  The facts enlisted within this video display trends which are of paramount importance to marketers on a global scale, and since I am majoring in PR and minoring in marketing, I foresee these trends as being very useful in my line of work.

I love PINTREST!!! It is the ultimate way to get great ideas whether you are planning a party, making crafts, or decorating a new home. It is so fun and quirky, but perfect for anybody. I got so many ideas for my room in my house and helped several of my roommates with their rooms too. You can pin anything. My brother got married in the spring and we did his wedding on a budget with the help of the site. They are constantly updating  it with new ideas and ways to do things. You have to check it out.

Blogging...again

I am already a blogger, but I have been on hiatus for a few months. So, I will tell you a little bit about myself.  I am junior and I really did GO WEST. At the University of West Georgia, our campaign is all about going west as many people know and I have done that in every since. I am involved in Greek life and a tour guide on the campus. I also love serving on the school's Student Government Association. I can't wait to learn more about the blogging world as I take another stab at it.
Blogger as well as Facebook and Twitter are my favorite sites for social media purposes. In the blogger world i can shop, learn about all different cultures, and even make cyber friends. The other two are obvious choices for pure social media purposes. I am really obsessed with Twitter and all the neat things you can learn about celebrities,your favorite teams, and friends in all different social circles. It is such an amazing concept. I am excited to see where this blog adventure takes me.
